Labour has condemned the SNP government for failing the education test. There is nothing in the legislative programme to address the growing crisis in our schools.
The SNP’s education policy is in tatters with no action to tackle rising class sizes, invest in new school buildings or provide jobs for unemployed teachers.
Labour’s education spokesperson Rhona Brankin said:
“The SNP government has failed the education test.
“The only worthwhile proposal SNP ministers have brought forward, to extend free school meals to poorer families, has been lifted from the Labour manifesto.
“This legislative programme is a huge missed opportunity. We have called on the Scottish Government to bring forward legislation to protect lower class sizes.
“The First Minister has also offered nothing to thousands of newly qualified teachers who can’t get jobs. Instead, we have the grotesque spectacle of rising class sizes and unemployed teachers.”
