SNP accused over poverty spin
"Stop me if you've heard this one before" - SNP re-release poverty annoucement
The Scottish Government have been accused of one of producing a 'blatant re-announcement' of a poverty framework. The first announcement was released on Monday this week and was repeated on Wednesday.
Here are the two announcements from the Scottish government website:
Action to combat poverty - Wednesday
£7.5 million framework to tackle income inequality in Scotland
Combating poverty and income equality - Monday
A new framework aimed at tackling poverty and income inequality has been launched.
The two announcements are virtually word for word and Labour's Housing spokesperson Mary Mulligan said:
"This brings a whole new meaning to blatant re-announcement. I know that sometimes press releases are issued more than once to ensure that journalists are aware of news but this is the same information two days apart.
"We are used to the SNP re-announcing things such as the £100m for housing that only £9m has materialised but the same thing twice in a week is pushing it.
"I would hope that ministers sort out this situation and we can be assured that the website only features announcements once."
