Salmond breaks promise over school closure visit
Scottish Labour have reacted angrily to another SNP broken promise.
During the recent Glenrothes byelection the First Minister Alex Salmond promised to visit South Primary School in Paisley which is in danger of being axed by SNP controlled Renfrewshire Council.
The SNP leader said he would visit Paisley and talk to the parents, he now says he's too busy.
The parents have now been told to travel to Edinburgh if they want to meet the First Minister.
Paisley South MSP Hugh Henry said:
"I am bitterly disappointed that Mr Salmond has broken his promise to come to Paisley and meet the parent
"He has inconvenienced these parents by demanding that they go to Edinburgh and I hope that this broken promise doesn't mean that he has now closed his mind.
"I want him to listen to the powerful arguments which the parents are putting forward and I want him to use his influence to persuade the SNP councillors in Renfrewshire to change their mind and keep this excellent school open.
"I hope Mr Salmond was not making a cheap promise in Glenrothes simply to get the parents out of the way."
Councillors are due to make a decision on the future of the school on Friday, December 12.
