Richard Simpson
Richard Simpson is a regional MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife.
Brought up in Perth and has lived in the Stirling area for most of his adult life.
Prior to becoming an MSP, Richard was previously a psychiatrist, with a specialist interest in drug and alcohol addictions. He was also a General Practitioner for over 25 years and was a founder member and chair of the Strathcarron Hospice.
Richard holds an Honorary Professor Post in Pyschology at Stirling Univeristy.
A member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the British Medical Association, and Scottish Association for Mental Health as well as a member of the Scottish Drugs Forum.
Outside of the Parliament, Richard's hobbies are golf, gardening and watching rugby, (which he also used to play).
Richard is married with two children.
Richard is a member of the Health and Sport Committee.
