Our initial proposals
We have now published the first stages of our review into the leadership structure of the Scottish Labour Party, and you can read our proposals here.
After the Scottish Parliament elections in May, Ed Miliband and Iain Gray asked us to chair a review of the Labour Party in Scotland.
Since then we have read thousands of pages of ideas from party members, attended dozens of party meetings, spoken to hundreds of party members and looked at best practice here and around the world. We have been informed by the work of the review group and our expert panels.
Structures in themselves don’t win us elections, but this, the biggest change for 90 years, marks a fresh start for the Scottish Labour Party.
There is no doubt that the Scottish Labour Party has to change. Now, the Scottish Executive Committee of our party met and agreed to recommend our proposals around the issue of the leadership.
It will be for delegates to the annual conference and a special Scottish Conference on 29 October to agree these changes.
Thanks for your involvement to date. You can contact us on scottishreview@labour.org.uk.
