Michael McMahon
Michael worked as a welder before deciding to go to University in 1992, where he was awarded a B.A. (Honours) degree in Social Sciences; Politics and Sociology. He then pursued a career in social and political research, before being elected to the Scottish Parliament in 1999.
Michael has been a trade union activist since leaving school, and was Chair of the GMB and the STUC Youth Committees. He was also the branch Equality Officer in the GMB and a member of the trade union’s Racial Advisory Committee.
Michael is married to Margaret, with three children.
