Over 8,000 NHS staff are owed pay in arrears
The Scottish Government has revealed in a Parliamentary Answer to Dr Richard Simpson that 8,274 NHS staff are owed pay in arrears, under the Agenda for Change pay system.
A further 1,991 substantive staff and 12,598 bank staff have still to be assimilated by the system and given a banding. Labour is calling on the Scottish Government to tackle this issue with the greatest priority.
Scottish Labour Health Spokesman Dr Richard Simpson said:
"I am deeply concerned that nearly 9,000 NHS staff have not been paid money that is owed to them.
"This will be particularly concerning for many families as we approach the Christmas period, which is the most expensive time of year.
"The Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon needs to step-in and ensure that health boards tackle this issue with the greatest priority.
"Nurses, medics and other NHS staff work incredibly hard and they should get what they deserve immediately."
