LABOUR RENEW CALL FOR SWINNEY TO PUBLISH BUDGET
Scottish Labour’s Andy Kerr has renewed his demand for the Scottish Government to publish its budget. He made his call during today’s debate on the Independent Budget Report.
Mr Kerr also accused the SNP and the Tory-Liberal Democrat coalition of pursuing policies that will lead to higher unemployment and put the economy at greater risk of a double-dip recession.
Andy Kerr said:
“Our approach to this challenge will be governed by the principle of fairness and the priority of protecting jobs and growing the economy.
“Just as the Tories cancelled the Future Jobs Fund, the SNP are limiting the chances of our young people by cutting back on the number of university places funded by the Scottish Government.
“Behind every family without work there is a human tragedy. And there is simply no excuse for a Government – any government, whether it is in Edinburgh or London - pursuing policies that increase the scale of that tragedy.”
