Scottish Futures Trust takes another knock
The SNP's Scottish Futures Trust took another knock today after it emerged that one of Alex Salmond's Council of Economic Advisors described its funding method as 'PFI with window dressing'.
Professor John Kay's comments are another embarrassment to Alex Salmond whose two economic flagship policies, SFT and Local Income Tax have been roundly criticised.
Scottish Labour's Shadow Finance Secretary Andy Kerr said:
"This is another blow to Salmond's Futures Trust. I said when it was launched that the SFT was PFI with a cheap lick of paint and now even the First Minister's advisors are telling him that.
"Whilst the SNP prevaricate over funding Scotland's infrastructure, schools and hospitals aren't being built, construction workers are being laid-off and Scotland's economic future is being damaged. Alex Salmond's 'no-nothing' government are sitting back watching Scotland struggle.
"Labour at Westminster ploughed £37 billion into saving jobs in the financial sector in Scotland and £2 billion more to stimulate the economy. In contrast the SNP are content to sit on their hands and do nothing."
