Fair pay for all
Times are tough and we know the coalition cuts are on their way. But Scotland faces a double whammy – the Tories cutting jobs and the SNP not doing enough to protect them.
Labour is working hard to oppose the Tory cuts, but the SNP have got their priorities wrong. Their top priority is independence, despite unemployment rising faster in Scotland than the rest of the UK. My top priority is getting people back to work.
We know that bankers caused this crisis, not hard working people doing vital jobs in the NHS, our schools or caring for the elderly.
There are going to be difficult decisions and there will have to be pay restraint, especially at the top. But Labour values demand we protect the lowest paid.
That’s why we’re committed to introducing a Scottish Living Wage of over £7 per hour - starting in the public sector but then campaigning for it to be rolled out across Scotland to all sectors of the economy. Join our campaign for a Scottish Living Wage and fair pay for all today.
