David Stewart is a regional MSP for Highlands & Islands.
He was born in Inverness in 1956. Married, David was educated at Paisley College gaining a BA Hons, he then attended Stirling University where he gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work and CQSW. In 1996 he also achieved a Professional Diploma in Management through the Open University Business School.
Prior to his election to the Scottish Parliament, David was a Social Worker in Dumfries and Dingwall and he was Assistant Director of Rural Affairs SCVO from 2005-2007. David has has also served as MP for Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber from 1997-2005. David is a member of trade union UNISON.
David is a member of the Public Petitions Committee.
